As Usual, I’m Late To The Party

This past Christmas, I received about $80 or so in iTunes gift cards. Without any apps or video games whetting my appetite, I ended up purchasing a good deal of music, filling in some of the gaps left hollow by eMusic and catching up on 2011 music I never got around to.

In short, I purchased: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks — Mirror Traffic, The Spells — Bats Vs. Birds EPEleanor Friedberger — Last Summer,  Fucked Up — David Comes To Life, Caitlin Rose — Dead Flowers, Tristen — Teardrops and Lollipops, Scott McCaughey — My Chartreuse Opinion, Girls — Father Son, Holy Ghost, and Guided By Voices — Let’s Go Eat The Factory.

I also cashed in my eMusic credits for the month, procuring: The Spells — Age of BackwardsCaitlin Rose — Own Side Now, Hayes Carll — Trouble In Mind, and Glenn Mercer — Wheels In Motion.

Let me just say that though I didn’t hear them until 2012, I believe that Girls’ Honey Bunny and Eleanor Friedberger’s My Mistakes are two of my favorite singles of 2011. I haven’t tested this out yet, but my gut tells me they have the potential to make a mean one-two punch on a mix tape.
