WordPress Protests SOPA/PIPA

My host and CMS, WordPress, is one of many web entities blacking out or altering their homepages today in protest against the Senate’s Protect IP Act and the House’s Stop Online Piracy.

Here’s the video explainer WordPress has posted on its homepage. It’s a little outdated in terms of how the legislation has changed in the face of outcry, but it’s still informative. Wired, a protest participant, also has a helpful explainer here:

PROTECT IP / SOPA Breaks The Internet from Fight for the Future on Vimeo.

For WordPress-powered websites that wish to join in the blackout campaign, plug-ins are available here. As you can tell, I am not blacking out my blog. This is because I haven’t written about the issue before and prefer to provide some information to my few readers now.
